Knowledge & Sharing: Introduction

CDIA’s Knowledge and Information Base

Given the diverse nature of CDIA client cities and other stakeholders, CDIA’s knowledge and information base strives to offer a mix of studies and reports as well as practical tools and approaches.

Reports such as ADB’s Managing Asian Cities will be of interest to our national partners and academic institutions in the region in helping them understand not only the evolving frame conditions and issues that they are (or will) be confronted with but also offers some of the responses they can seek to pursue in order to more effectively address the situation they are facing in the area of managing the ongoing urban growth and development. Selected excepts from the report serve as a basis for the CDIA Discussion Forums.

Our local city partners most likely will be interesting in finding ‘solutions’ and tools to deal with the immediate problems they are facing. While much of the CDIA material focuses on ensuring such solutions are placed within an overall urban management context and approach, there will also be opportunities for peer-to-peer learning from others that have been through the various problems and found workable solutions. Additionally, we also seek to offer a growing number of Tools and Methodologies that might assist you in addressing some of the issues and problems confronting you.

The CDIA Blog offers registered users an opportunity to comment on selected topics relevant to the management and sustainability of Asian cities.

By offering links to materials that our various partners have developed under separate bi-lateral cooperation projects, the intention is to provide you with access to a range of approaches that have been applied and proven in other parts of the region that you might be able to adapt for your own purposes. This material will be found under Partner Agency Toolkits.  Additional materials developed by other non-CDIA initiatives can be found under  Non-CDIA Urban Management Tools.  You may also want to explore what other projects and initiatives in Asia are doing in related fields in the External Links – Related Projects and Initiatives section.

The Events listing offers brief information and links to CDIA and other agency events and activities that are happening. The CDIA Newsletter offers information on What CDIA is doing in the region; Synergies being built with other organizations; Approaches to help cities close the planning->investment infrastructure gap; and What some of our partner cities are doing.

If you are a professional working in a city administration of a developed country and wanting to share your knowledge and offer support to a colleague from one of our partner cities, you may be interested in contributing through our Mentor Programme.
