Project Financing Sources
A report is now available on “Existing Local and National Available Financing Instruments for Mitigation Measures in Indonesia“.
This study aims at identify existing and possible financial options for mitigation action at the city/district level by the local government In Indonesia. The work consists of the identification of the appropriate financing options based on the existing practice in environmental management, as well as recommendation of other possible options.

Preliminary Guide: Overview of International Financing for City Climate Change Interventions
This preliminary guide on the “Overview of International Financing for City Climate Change Interventions” attempts to provide advice to city authorities, project consultants and private stakeholders, who all have an interest and role in planning, developing and implementing climate change measures in their respective cities.
The current available funds for mitigation and adaptation, not limited to cities, is estimated at $9 billion per year.1 This is a large sum but many studies show that the need for mitigation and adaptation finance may be $275 billion per year (World Bank).
In the current scenario of limited funding, cities need to keep in mind that international climate funding will certainly represent only a very small fraction of their overall budgets. The primary available international funding sources for climate change in cities, both mitigation and adaptation, are briefly listed in this brochure. Most of this climate funding will be channeled through national governments, and city access to funding remains uncertain, especially as climate change activities are usually assigned to Ministries of Environment, which do not traditionally focus on urban issues.
There are now many different sources for financing focused on climate‐change and/or environmental issues. International financing from the UNFCCC, multilateral development banks and bilateral sources are usually supplementary to other financing sources and rarely cover the full cost of an investment but can make the difference between viability and non‐viability.

CDIA PPP Guide for Municipalities
This guidebook was prepared to offer an innovative view to help local governments understand how to approach a potential PPP project and to review some issues that may come up in the process. It is one of the few guides that are specifically targeted at city officials, such as mayors and council members, as well as senior technical staff in different sectors (e.g.: water, energy, roads, ports) that are just beginning to look at PPP options. It is not a book of comprehensive answers but a basic guide about how to view PPPs and where to find more information so that local authorities can come to find their own answers.
