Recently Approved Applications

Cities Recently Approved for Support

The following cities have recently received approval in principle for CDIA support on September 9, 2011:

  • Guiyang, China (phase II)
  • Xinyu, China
  • Pokhara, Nepal
  • Puerto Princesa, Philippines

These cities have applied to receive technical assistance in Infrastructure Investment Programming, Project Assessment and the preparation of Pre-Feasibility studies (PFS), which will address various issues in key sectors such as transport, slum upgrading and wastewater management.

Cagayan de Oro, Philippines was given approval in principle at the CMT meeting of June 17, 2011. Support will focus on assisting with the structuring of an urban infrastructure investment program and Pre-feasibility study related to the river watershed management as well as wastewater and solid waste management.

Vijayawada, India was given approval in principle at the CMT meeting of April 11, 2011.

Support will include assisting the city to prepare a revision to the CDP through application of the CIIPP Toolkit.

The exact scope of PFS support will require further assessment, but preliminary target areas include: water supply, transport and slum improvement

It is expected that the proposed infrastructure investment would address issues of governance, climate change, environmental and gender issues and/or covers areas that will have substantial positive impacts on these issues. The proposal also would directly and indirectly address poverty issues.
